Kim Battcher was born in Chicago and raised in Northbrook, Illinois. She lived in Reno for a year-long position, fell in love with the community and eventually returned and has made it her home. Kim studied at the University of Southern California, where she earned her Bachelors and then continued on to receive her Juris Doctorate at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
Kim lives in Reno with her husband, Fritz. Fritz and Kim have two daughters, Emma, a sophomore at UNLV’s Harrah Collage of Hospitality, and Alexandra, a junior at Galena High School.
As the Marketing Director at STEP2, Kim executes STEP2’s marketing plan, manages volunteers, coordinates in-kind donations and assists with fund development and event planning.
Kim’s favorite days at STEP2 are the ones that are spent sharing the mission through on-campus tours and at community events. She enjoys hearing stories of how STEP2 has affected them or those they know.
She says, “I always have had an interest in child protection and in the past served as a child protection division case manager. While in that role, I saw children removed from their homes and also was able to see parents regain custody. STEP2 allows me to see firsthand the positive outcomes achieved by the work a parent puts in to reunify with her children and to restore her family.”
Kim enjoys traveling with her family, especially to Disney Parks, walking her dog and her involvement with National Charity League’s Sierra Nevada Chapter.
