Sunshine Tahoe founder Christina Stoever Young has been named to the Board of Directors of STEP2, a Reno-based nonprofit that helps women experiencing substance use disorders participate in rehabilitation services.

“Our Board of Directors in incredibly lucky to have her join us,” said Mari Hutchinson, Chief Executive Officer of STEP2. “She came to tour STEP2 and her passion for our population and the women that we work with was so apparent. She was genuinely engaged while she was here on our campus, and it was clear how mission-driven she is and how much she cares about our population.”

Stoever Young brings a wealth of marketing, fundraising, public relations, and crisis management experience. She has served on the board of several area nonprofits including the Nevada Women’s Fund, where she still serves on the Allocations Committee; Trails and Vistas, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful; and the Martis Camp Foundation, where she serves on the Grants Committee.

Her business, Sunshine Tahoe, works with nonprofits to strengthen their exposure, inspire creativity, and enhance partnerships to help them ensure success. She said STEP2 is a perfect fit for the type of organizations she supports.

“I am so excited to be a part of STEP2,” she said. “I very much like the strategic approach that STEP2 takes. It’s a long-term program focusing on fundamental life skills. It starts at the basics, from formulating and managing budget, to going to the grocery store with a weekly meal plan, to counseling on how to become a sober human without the burden of unhealthy dependencies. And it’s all happening in a safe and healthy environment.”
