In its fourth year, Metcon 4 Hope has chosen to support local non-profit STEP2 with this year’s CrossFit competition to be held on November 10, 2018.

This year Metcon 4 Hope made the decision to support STEP2, a comprehensive residential and out-patient treatment program with a mission to save lives and restore families by providing women struggling to overcome substance abuse disorders, poverty, domestic violence and/or sexual assault/trauma the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

“I have been part of and supported many non-profits both locally, nationally and internationally. STEP2 is a hidden gem in our community that offers a comprehensive approach to helping those with substance and alcohol abuse,” said Joel Cochran, General Manager and Coach at Double Edge Fitness. “The community support closely resembles what we try to offer at Double Edge, which is inspiring others to take health and wellness home. When you can make a change with yourself, then you can make a change for those around you. STEP2 recognizes this, which is why they offer such deep support when it comes to women and their families dealing with recovery.”

Metcon 4 Hope was founded in 2014 by Double Edge Fitness with the idea of giving back to the community. The first two years the event raised money and sponsored families in need so that they could enjoy a Christmas dinner and present.  As the competition grew, the founders of the event realized they needed to find non-profits to support the amount of money that was being raised. In 2017, they sponsored A New Song which supported orphans in Uganda who needed basic supplies such as food and water along with education and family support for children who were abandoned by their mothers and fathers.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have been chosen as the recipient of this year’s donations,” said Mari Hutchinson, Chief Executive Officer at STEP2. “The money raised through this event will go a long way towards providing necessary services to our women and their families. As a private local nonprofit, I am able to promise you that 100% of every dollar raised through this campaign will stay right here in our community, helping local families.”

The event will be held on November 10, 2018 at 8 am at Double Edge Fitness’ south Reno location. Competitors will compete throughout the day with food and drinks provided by Food Evolution and Reno Brewery.
