STEP2’s Board of Directors and Staff are pleased to announce that Marie Baxter has been named CEO of STEP2. Marie has served as a leader in the non-profit arena since 1999. She began her career as the Executive Director for the Davidson Institute for Talent Development and has served as the Executive Director of the Reno Rodeo Foundation, The Eddy House and most recently was the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Development Officer for Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada.
“I have had the opportunity to connect with STEP2 on several occasions during my professional career and it has always been a dream of mine to work for this amazing organization that does such tremendous good for women and children in our community,” Marie said. “I am simply thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the CEO and work with the dedicated, talented staff members who change lives every day.”
Board of Directors President, Lauren Yurick says Marie is the perfect choice to carry on the mission of STEP2.
“As Board President, I am extremely excited about the future of STEP2,” said Yurick “Marie’s passion for women and children and her roots in the non-profit sector in northern Nevada make her an incredible asset for our agency and the women we serve.”
A proud Nevada Native, she is a two time graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno receiving a BS and a Master’s Degree in Education.
Marie is extremely active in the northern Nevada community and has served on a variety of boards, including the Reno Philharmonic Association. She was the first woman to ever serve on the Board of The Prospectors’ Club, recognized as a Reno Tahoe YPN/RGJ Twenty under 40 in 2010 and a Nevada Women’s Fund Woman of Achievement in 2012. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in 2018.
Mari Hutchinson, COO and CFO of STEP2, is very excited about the fresh perspective Marie will bring to their team and stated, “The STEP2 staff is thrilled to welcome Marie Baxter to our team. We look forward to serving even more families under her leadership.”
Marie began her role on May 8, 2018.
