STEP2 is a private non-profit agency located in Reno that has been serving Northern Nevada since 1986. We just celebrated 30 YEARS in Northern Nevada!  STEP2 was born in 1986 with the assistance of Soroptimist International of Reno and our community’s support of substance abuse treatment. In 1988, STEP2 obtained its nonprofit status and began serving women and their children in a safe and therapeutic setting while working to keep the family together.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, coordinated services related to the treatment and recovery of chemically dependent women and their families, resulting in sustainable self-sufficiency. This means, we are a treatment center for women in our community and the surrounding areas, that are looking for a way to rebuild their lives. STEP2 pioneered gender-specific treatment for women in Nevada and currently provides state-of-the art care for pregnant and parenting women and their children integrating treatment, housing, childcare and case management. We use evidence-based substance abuse treatment interventions combined with comprehensive services to provide a holistic approach to recovery.

STEP2 is the only treatment program in Northern Nevada and one of the few in the country that accommodates women with children. The treatment model empowers each client to succeed and become a productive member of society while supporting and encouraging her recovery for up to 18 months.

Our services include; transitional housing, trauma informed care, domestic violence advocacy, intensive case management, parenting skills development, nutrition education, employment readiness, subsidized childcare, couples and family therapy, and transportation assistance.

In the last 30 years STEP2 has served over 3,200 impoverished women and children from our community and the surrounding areas. None of this would have been able to be accomplished without the help of the incredible comunitty that we are blessed to be a part of.

Thank you from all of us at STEP2 for allowing us to embark on this journey.
